89 Renner at Lenexa City Center
Project Summary
89 Renner at Lenexa City Center
The 89 Renner project in the City Center Lenexa development was awarded to Darland Construction through a competitive interview and budgeting process. The developer Copaken-Brooks assembled the team of Darland Construction and Klover Architects for the new two-story mixed use building with Perceptive Software’s conference center on the second floor and retail/restaurant designated on the ground floor. The 89 Renner building was one of the first buildings in the more than 630,000-square-foot multi-building development.
Darland was engaged early on to work with Klover Architects and the Copaken-Brooks management team to perform preconstruction services, including design-assistance. The team brought the project in 30 days ahead of schedule and under budget. Through packaging of the trades and diligent management of costs by the Darland project team, significant savings were given back to the owner at the end of the project.
The project team coordinated with the City of Lenexa and local utility providers to bring in the new infrastructure in time to support the building and other future development. With a start date late in the fall, Darland worked with the supporting sub trades throughout the winter to ensure the schedule was met.
“Darland was an instrumental partner in the construction success of the first truly mixed-use building in City Center Lenexa. They delivered both the first floor retail space and second-floor office space early and under budget," said Keith Copaken of Copaken-Brooks. "We’d use them again.”
